Literary Blogging 101: How to Properly Send a Book Review Request

2

I am going to start with my disclaimer, I am not a pro at these and I get ignored/rejected more times than I get approvals, but it doesn’t mean one shouldn’t try at all, we wouldn’t get anywhere if we stopped pushing.

I am an international book blogger and I love reading. If I bought all the books I read, I wouldn’t be able to afford my basic amenities, because books for me are expensive wants. This is why Literary Blogging has been a huge lifesaver for me, I get to read books I want in exchange for my honest review, that’s an awesome win and you to can also have that.

Bookstagram Tips by Lara Kareem

Bookstagram Tips

This is a popular request, that I’ve gotten so often, it would be a sin if I don’t deliver it! I’m no pro at #bookstagram, but I’ll gladly share with you these few tips ♥️

Camera

First thing first, the camera you’re using to take your pictures determines the quality of your images. That doesn’t mean you’ve to buy a standard camera to take pictures for the ‘gram (all I have ever used for bookstagram over the years are my phones) so just invest in a phone with a good camera because images should always be crisp and clear, instead of blurry and grainy.

Blog Design 101

I didn’t get the hang of designing my blog until recently and I am absolutely not a pro at it. What I did was Google. Google is key people and extremely important (also you need to know what you’re googling, to find the goodies) Google has helped me discover a lot of things (posts, blogs, editors etc.) that have greatly helped in designing my blog. Aside from Google, asking other people also helps a lot. You can make a post reaching out to bloggers and so many people will respond to you and just like magic you have many different options to choose from and learn about various users experiences.

We all know that there are many various platforms that are being used to host various Blogs/Sites, but I am more conversant with WordPress, I will try to cover as much ground as I can possibly remember about designing when it comes to it. Please note that I am not a professional when it comes to this and everything I am writing or showing is free to do and use by anyone, nor do I claim to own any of them, if they aren’t mine.

Introduction

A book review should be full of nothing but the reader’s honest opinion. It’s the writing of our reading experience, the good, bad and ugly.

A review can start off with us loving a book and at the end of writing it, we come to the realization we actually hated the book or vice versa. That is to say, reviews are unique and we should never think we always have to stick to a certain required template or format.
